E2@UMD seeks to:&lt;br /&gt;increase students’ knowledge of the various engineering fields offered at the University of&lt;br /&gt;Maryland; encourage students to pursue engineering as a course of study in college; and expose&lt;br /&gt;them to female role models in engineering.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Job one:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Two camp counselors live with E2@UMD participants and enforce the rules and policies of the&lt;br /&gt;program in the classroom and in the residence hall. The camp counselors coordinate all of the&lt;br /&gt;social activities at night and help students with their final project. The camp counselors are&lt;br /&gt;expected to attend E2@UMD program activities and provide information and referral to&lt;br /&gt;participants who want to know more about engineering. This position will require frequent travel to remote bed rest facilities.  The Neurosciences Laboratory is a component of the Human Adaptation and Countermeasures Office, which implements the scientific objectives of the life sciences research laboratories at the Johnson Space Center.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:times new roman;"&gt;Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.  Assignments have clear and specified objectives.  Receive instructions on specific assignments objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.  Assistance is furnished on unusual problems and work is reviewed for application of sound professional judgment.&lt;br /&gt;This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely allied field plus 0-2 years of experience; or equivalent experience. The incumbent should be skilled in the design, testing, evaluation, and integration of biomechanical instrumentation intended for use with human subjects.  Experience with biomedical instrumentation and measurements, real-time data acquisition systems, and signal processing is also needed. The incumbent must have a sufficiently advanced knowledge of human physiology to understand biomedical experiments designed to characterize the human response to space flight and the development of appropriate countermeasures. This position requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:times new roman;"&gt;PC skills in Microsoft office products are required.
