NSHMBA and MIT Pre-MBA Program

PRE-MBA PROGRAM:

DEADLINE IS MAY 26, 2006
The National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA), in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), is looking for outstanding undergraduate students of Hispanic origin to attend an all expenses paid program all about their future and the possibilities an MBA can offer them. The program will be hosted on MIT's campus June 22-25, 2006. While the Pre-MBA program is only open to undergraduate students, we encourage those of you who are professionals and/or currently pursuing a graduate degree to share this information with undergraduates who you think may be interested. Tell the undergraduates you know that they shouldn't miss this chance to learn about the advantages of an MBA and network with top universities and companies for future career opportunities.

Applications will be accepted until May 26.

GEM Graduate &Undergraduate Conference Registration and Travel Waivers

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc. (SHPE) AHETEMS Office andthe National GEM Consortium have partnered to provide eligible SHPE undergraduate and graduate students competitive financial support to attend one of two mini-conferences held in conjunction with the 2006 GEM Annual Conference and 30th Anniversary Gala, at the InterContinentalHotel, in Chicago, Illinois, from June 28 - June 30, 2006. The National GEM Consortium is providing several conference registration waivers for selected SHPE students. SHPE is providing travel stipends, up to $300, to selected SHPE students. The mini-conference tracks are as follows:

Job Description

Software/Firmware Engineers play key roles in multi-discipline teams working on new products and solutions. You'll be part of an amazing team that designs, implements, tests, and validates firmware for our next generation of LaserJet printer products. We are developing worldclass products and need great engineers to help us get the job done! You will be involved in the design, development, and testing of firmware that controls the microprocessors within our LaserJet products. You will be engineering changes to our system firmware to add new features, improve performance, make enhancements or address problem areas. You will help to review design requirements, write specifications, generate code, and formulate test plans to assure product quality.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in a programming-related technical discipline (e.g. computer science, computer engineering, etc.)

Experience and knowledge:
Practical experience with various programming languages, Operating Systems, and technologies such as C, C++, Unix, Linux, Windows. A knowledge of embedded systems and microprocessor programming is essential.

Skills:
Software/firmware development and de-bugging skills. Familiarity with various logic analyzers, emulation systems, compilers, and debug tools is helpful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Minority Business Leaders (EMBL) Summer Institute

Undergraduate and Graduate Students,

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc. (SHPE) AHETEMS Office is working with the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation to provide full-time, qualified, undergraduate and graduate students, who are interested in entrepreneurialism, developing technology business plans, taking engineering products to market, and patent processing, the opportunity to attend a competitive two-week Emerging Minority Business Leaders (EMBL) Summer Institute from June 11-23, 2006, at West Virginia
Liberty College.

The WVHFC Foundation will provide registration, lodging, meals, $1500 stipend, and 3-graduate level credits. SHPE will provide assistance with travel to selected participants. NOTE: You do not have to be a SHPE member to apply for the travel assistance.

ELIGIBILITY
- U.S. and non-U.S. citizens
- A 3.25 cumulative GPA minimum
- Rising junior, senior, graduating senior or graduate student.
- Attend an accredited university full-time
- Member of an ethnic minority group or be a student attending a minority
serving institution full-time
